　　Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment。 There were few people on the earth， and natural resources seemed to be unlimited。Today things are different。 The world has bee too crowded。 We are using up our natural resources，and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals。 If we continue to do this， human life on earth will not survive。 We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea， there will soon be none left。 Yet，with modern fishing methods， more and more fish are caught。We know that if too many trees are cut down， forests will disappear。 Yet， we continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees。 We see that if rivers are polluted with waste products， we will die。 Yet， waste products are still put into rivers。

　　In my opinion, in order to prevent fires we should first of all foster people's sense of fire prevention. The second thing we have to do is to increase the number of professional fire fighters, to whom regular training courses should be offered. 　　有一次，我们一家人到奶奶家去吃晚饭，我们都津津有味地吃着美味的饭菜，我吃完后，发现手特别脏，便进了洗手间去洗了把手。突然看到一个大型的脸盆正在接着从水龙头里慢慢滴下来的水，那时水已经滴了脸盆的一半了，我便立刻去问了奶奶：“奶奶，你怎么不关水龙头呢?那样很浪费水的呀!我把它关了吧!”“不用，不用。”奶奶笑着说，“那是我是故意开着的，盛点水总是要用的`呀，对吧。”我便没有说什么，过了几分钟后，我又去了一趟洗手间，我看了看里面，只见那个脸盆早就已经装满了，水都已经哗哗地扑出来了，便对奶奶说：“奶奶脸盆里的水装满了!”“那你把水龙头关一下吧。”奶奶说。我心想：在扑出来的几分钟里，也不知浪费了多少的水啊!
