　　这个暑假我跟着爸爸去了不少地方，让我感受最深的不是美景，而是不会说英语的遗憾。

　　七月份的时候，我跟着爸爸去了北京玩，我们一起看了故宫，还有天安门，非常开心，这时我看见一个外国友人走到我们面前，说了好几句英语，我一脸迷惑的看着他，不知道他要表达什么，他看我听不懂，又转身找了一个，原来他是要找人帮忙照相啊。

　　虽然这只是一个小小的插曲，但是我却在随后的日子里碰到了好几个外国友人，可怜我不会英语，那时我就下定决心，好好学英语。

　　回到家后，我买了一本简单的问候语，还有日常用语，开始学了起来，虽然过程是麻烦的，但是我还是坚持了下来，我又买了一本单词本，每天都背上几个，慢慢的`我感觉自己的英语水平提高了。

　　八月份的时候，我跟着爸爸去了天津，当然我还是碰到了几个外国友人，这次我主动打了招呼，聊的很开心，外国友人直对我竖大拇指，我开心极了。

　　Father's Day, contrary to popular misconception, was not established as a holiday in order to help greeting card manufacturers sell more cards. In fact when a "father's day" was first proposed there were no Father's Day cards!

　　和通俗的误解不同，父亲节不是为了贺卡生产商卖出更多贺卡而设立的节日。事实上，当父亲节第一次被提出来的时候，就不存在父亲节卡片！

　　Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart was a Civil War veteran. His wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a farm. it was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.

In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.
