At a street corner squats a beggar. He is always there， under the tree， in the shade. Senile as he is， he crouches in some ragged pieces of cloth. He is there， always there， like a sculpture in the street. Day after day， thousands of people pass in front of him hurriedly. Some spare coins， most give a quick glance in disgust. However， it shocks me very much. What a miserable life a human being can bear!
At the first sight， you will be appalled that God has created such an emaciated creature. His dark face is full of wrinkles， deep or shallow. They remind people of the hardship the beggar has experienced. His cheeks are bony while his neck is so thin. His hair is bedraggled like a nest， a nest with a coat of oil. What an impressive sculpture it is! Most of the time， his mouth speaks while his eyes are half closed. But once a pedes trian passes by， he will keep nodding his head slightly and auto matically as if a gust of wind had forced him to do so. At the same time， he raises his gnarled right hand from the ground，murmuring to beg. What a hand! It is a seamy， shriveled hand. The wrinkles in his skin are stretching， twisting and in tersecting. Dirt fills the grooves. In front of him lies an dilapidated bowl with only a few coins in it. Believe it or not， it is more and more difficult to make a living by begging. Beside him， there is a stick as slim as his legs as if the third leg of the poor old beggar.
The sun is shining in the sky， but it doesn't shine every corner of the world. There are still people who are not bathed in the sunshine. The beggar is just one of them.

It Pays to Be Honest
Nowadays people are troubled with mass of dishonest behaviors in society. Teachers get annoyed when they catch students cheating on exams; consumers get hurt when they unfortunately buy some fake products; children are misled when they see their parents tell lies so as to evade the responsibility they should take.
Why do people cheat? The main reason probably lies in immediate interest they may obtain by cheating. For example, a company, which manufactures fake products, may seem to win for a moment because it can minimize its manufacture cost by doing so. This kind of businesses, however, will be driven out of the market in the long run. For the consumers after getting to know the poor quality of the products will not buy them anymore.
The same is true of individuals. Dishonest people dare not take on the responsibility of life. They cheat in class, in office, at home and so on. But the truth can hardly be masked. The moment the truth comes out they will lose their credibility, which is easier to destroy than to rebuild. Consequently, these dishonest will suffer a long time because of their cheating behaviors. In conclusion, no one can afford to be dishonest in a civilized society.
Honesty is the pillar of a society. People will benefit from being honest in the long run. That‘s why we say it pays to be honest.

Our city has started to face the problem. Some rubbish is sorted and sent to a certain place 。 Waste gas is cleaned before it goes into the air. Waste water is also cleaned before it is poured into rivers.
People should be prevented from throwing rubbish everywhere. We should try our best to take care of our environment and fight against pollution.

Now I want to say, time is more precious than money, because when money is spent, we can earn some more again.

Time goes without being noticed.
The time for our study and work is usually limited.
So I think we must make full use of our time.
But it’s a pity that I am always not aware of the importance of time until it’s too late.
So I think, I should get into the good habit of saving time because wasting time is equal to wasting one’s life.

A new supermarket in our neighbourhood has started business recently.It is only five minutes' walk from our college.Ding Hua asked me to go shopping with her,or rather,to see what the new supermarket was like.
We went there yesterday.It was spacious,clean,tidy and brightly lit.There were row upon row of goods shelves filled with various kinds of goods.Two girl shop-assistants sat at two check-outs.Some other assistants were replenishing the shelves.But there were some who were just chatting with each other or just keeping watch on the customers.
We moved about,looking at the attractive things on the shelves.But we only bought a few articles,Ding Hua chose a pair of slippers,and I picked up a bag of washing powder and a bottle of pickle.
It is easy and convenient shoppiing in a supermarket.The first of those supermarkets were introduced into our cities from the developed countries only a couple of years ago,which shows that our economics are developing rapidly.But we think the quality of the staff members is to be raised.As far as we know,no shop assistants are chatting with each other or keeping watch on the customers in the supermarkets in developed countries.
