名词按其所表示的事物的性质可以分为可数名词（countable noun）和不可数名词（uncountable noun），可数名词有单数形式和复数形式。
1、名词的数：
名词的复数变化规则：
规则变化 一般情况 加-s 清辅音后读/s/，浊辅音和元音后读/z/；在/s/，/z/，//，/t/，/d/等后读/iz/ book—books
以-s，-x，-ch，-sh等结尾加-es class—classes
以辅音字母加-y结尾 去-y加-ies party—parties
以o结尾，且没有生命 直接加s photo—photos
以o结尾，且有生命 加es tomato——tomatoes
以-f，-fe结尾 去-f，-fe加-ves knife——knives
不规则变化 同形 不变 sheep—sheep
变元音 不规则 man—men
其他 不规则 child—children
2、名词所有格：（possessive case of nouns）
名词所有格表示所属关系。
名词所有格的'构成方法
单数名词以-s,es结尾加-' 读作/iz/ the actress'film
不以-s,-es结尾加-'s 与名词复数词尾-s读音相同
your father's birthday
复数名词 不以-s,-es结尾 加-'s Children's Day
以-s,es结尾 加-' 不变 my parents' room
其他不能加‘s的名词 ... of ... the door of the room
例如：
The teacher runs them through a drill — the days of the week, the weather and some counting.
