Step1. Revision
1. Song and duty report
2. Revise the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives, shoe some pictures and say some sentences.(or have a match with a students and say you are strong, I am stronger than you.) Ask some students talk about other things in the same way. Write down the sentences, focus on the comparative form (–er than) and (- est of …)
Step 2. Presentation
1. Talk about the weather and say it is god for sports, such as running, jumping etc. Say …runs faster than… or show a slide and say … comes to school at 7 o’clock,… comes to school at 6:30. … comes to school earlier than …, but …comes to school earliest of all. . She comes here at 6:00 every day. Write down the form … comes earlier than… …comes earliest of…
2. Get the students to do the same with other adverbs.
Step 3. Read and learn
1. Talk about the sports meeting in our school, ask students some questions to present “hold a sports meeting(held), “ which sport are you in?” “win-won” ( we can use some photos of students in the last sports meeting).
2. No.14 Middle School held a sports meeting last week, too. Let students listen and answer “Who won the girls’ 100-metre race (books closed), then open the books and read after the tape, go on to read the last two passages an find out the answer to these questions: Who won the boys’ high jump? Who won the girls’ long jump?
At last, read after the tape.
Step 4. Read and act
1. Let students guess: Jim didn’t do anything in the sports meeting, he was at home, why? After their answers, present: Bad luck, I’m sorry to hear that … etc. And teach “neck” with a gesture.
2. Act the students to read and act out the dialogue, try to use different parts of the body.
Step 5.Consolidation
Get the student to talk about the sports meeting last year. Don't forget to use the comparative and superlative of adverb, adjective or make a dialogue.
Step 6. Workbook
Workbook Lesson 85. Do some exercise about comparative and superlative degree.
Step 7. Homework
Write down what they talked in class.
