Step 1. Presentation
1. Play the tape of “Good morning to you.”
A. Ask the Ss to guess the meaning of “Good morning ” and “teacher”. Then say “I’m your teacher.” ( Point to myself and explain.)
B. Get the Ss to repeat “Good morning, teacher.” Individually and in chorus.
2. Using gestures, teach the Ss to obey the instructions “ Stand up ” and “Sit down”.
Step 2. Practice
1. Leave the classroom, return and say Stand up. Good morning, class.
Help the Ss answer: Good morning, teacher.
Say: Sit down, please.
Repeat this conversation three times.
2. Then get the Ss to practise the following dialoges in pairs and in lines. Pay attention to their pronunciation.
A: Good morning.
B: Good morning.
3. Let all the Ss stand up. Ask them to sit down one by one or in lines or in rows.
Step 3. Presentation
1. T: Listen: I’m your English teacher. My name’s Shi Yanhong. (Write the name on the Bb.). Repeat this sentence. And I’m Shi Yanhong.
Get the Ss to guess the meanings of the following two sentences on the Bb.
My name’s Shi Yanhong.
I’m Shi Yanhong.
2. Point to a student and say: Your name is ( Lin Tao ).
Ask this student : What’s your name?
Help him answer : My name’s Lin Tao.
Then say “Hello” or “Hi” to him.( Wave at him.)
Ask the Ss to say “Hello” or “Hi” to each other. (Make gestures.)
Then ask the same question one by one.
3. Write What’s your name? on the Bb.
Let the Ss guess the meaning of it.
Call them to read after the teacher.
What’s your name?
My name’s…./ I’m ….
Step 4 .Practice
1. Practise the conversation with individuals.
T: Hello! Good morning.
S: Hello! Good morning.
T: My name is Shi Yanhong. What’s your name?
S: My name is …./ I’m ….
2. Make the same conversation with 3 or 5 students and in chorus.
3. Get the Ss to ask and answer in pairs. Pay attention to their pronunciation.
Step 5. Listening
1. Look at the flashing slides. Play the tape. Listen and repeat.
2. Read the names of 1b in chorus.
3. Listen to the tape recorder again and number the names they hear.
Step 6. Groupwork
1. Practise the conversations in the picture. Then introduce themselves each other.
2. Have a contest.
Divide the class in four groups. Ask and answer in lines. See which group is the best. Then the winner will get a smiling face.
4. Then each group chooses a pair to act it out in the front of the classroom. And the best will be given a smiling face for their group.
Step 7. Presentation
1. Look at the slide of 3a. Notice the time of the clock. Teach “ Good afternoon.” And “ Good evening.”
2. Get the Ss to repeat them individually and in chorus.
3. Call a boy to go out of the classroom, enter again and help him say “Sorry, I’m late.” And the teacher answer “ That’s all right.” Get the Ss to guess the meanings of the two sentences.
4. Read them together.
Step 8. Listening
1. Look at the slide and listen to the tape.
Number the pictures [1-4].
2. Read the names of 3b in chorus.
3. Listen again and circle the names they hear.
Step 9. Practice
Practise the following conversations:
1. A: Good afternoon, Lin Tao.
B: Good afternoon, Liu Lei.
2. A: Hello, I’m Amy. What’s your name?
B: My name is Li Ling. Sit down, please.
3. A: Hi, Li Ming! Good evening.
B: Good evening, Fang Lin. Sorry, I’m late.
A: That’s all right.
Get several pairs to dimonstrate the conversations in the front of the class. (Contest.)
Step 10. Listen and sing
1. Play the song of Good morning to you.
2. Read the words of the song in chorus and then sing after the tape.
3. Sing Good afternoon / evening instead of Good morning.
Step 11. Presentation
Learn the letters.
1. Explain that there are 26 English letters, each letter can be “Big” or “Small”. The names of people always begin with a big letter.
Write my name on the Bb as an example.

2. Show some teaching cards. Help them say the latters and memorise their order.
(1).Hold the card “Aa” say / ei /.
Tell the Ss the first is a big letter, the later is a small one. Let them read after the teacher together several times. Practise it individually. ( Pay attention to their pronunciation.)
Then teach Bb. Cc. Dd. Ee like the above.
(2).Get the Ss to read them aloud individually and in chorus.
First the cards are shown alphabetically and then randomly. Note that we usually use a falling
tone when pronouncing a single letter:‵A. . But when reading a list we do it like this:′A′B′C′D′E.
(3).Look at the flashing slide. Point out the letters we’ve learnt. (Contest)
(4). Listen and number the letters they hear. (2a)
(5). Pay particular attention to the /ei/ sound in A, the long /i:/ sound in B.C.D.E. Make sure the Ss pronounce the letters correctly.
A /ei/. B /bi:/. C /ci:/. D /di:/. E /i:/.
(6). Tell the Ss A and E are vowles, and B.C.D are consonants.
Step 12. Writing
1. Get the Ss to read aloud the letters in chorus and in lines.
2. Ask them to get ready to copy down the letters.
Pay attention to the order of the strokes, and the form and correct position of the letters.
Ask the Ss to practise with the teacher.
3. Fill in the small letter for each big letter.(2b)
4. Write letters from Aa to Ee, and get them to read aloud.(2c)
Step 13. Presentation
1. Show some objects, such as an apple, a book, a cap, a desk and an eraser.
Hold an apple and say: apple. Get the Ss to repeat. Then teach the others.
2. Look at the flashing slide.
Say the following in English with the teacher.
Find the letters we’ve learned.
3. Read them individually and in lines.
Step 14. Games
1. Share the objects to the class. Let a boy say apple. Then the girl who holds the apple shows it.
Then a book, a cap and an eraser.
2. Say desk (Touch the desk ). Ask the Ss to do so.
Step 15. Listen and repeat.(2d)
1. Say the letters we’ve learnt. Pay attention to their pronunciation.
2. Ask which two letters are vowels. Answer: A and E
3. Listen to the tape recorder and repeat
Note: The letter A in the words Amy, Dale, name, eraser sounds /ei/,in the words cap and apple, it sounds / /.The letter E in the words B,C,D,evening sounds /i:/, in the words Ben and desk it sounds /e/.
4. Say the words after the tape recorder.
Step 16. Listen and chant
Play the recorder. Say the chant ‘A and E’ (Clap their hands.)
Then chant it in chorus and in groups.
