Step 1. Leading in
Ask students these questions:
Where is my pen/the ball/Tom/your mother?
(复习以前学的Where’s 句型和一些表示位置的介词)
Step 2. 1a Get students to look at the words. Say each one and ask
students to repeat. Then focus attention on the picture and write
out the letter of each place.
Step 3. Ask and answer
Teacher: There is a post office/hotel/bank…in the picture.
Is there a post office/hotel/bank…in the picture?
引导学生用 Yes, there is. or No, there isn’t. 回答
Is there a pay phone near the post office?
Step 4. 1b Listen to the tape and circle the places
Step 5. 1c Ask students to work in pairs. First one person asks a
question and then the other person takes a turn.
Ask several groups to say some of the questions and
answers for the class.
Step 6. Homework 1. Copy the new words
2. Make four sentences with “Is there …”
3. Finish exercise 1

Make sentences with the prepositions above.
Step 2. 2a new word: across from
The shop is across from our school.
Our school is across from my home.
Get students to talk about the picture. Then name all the places in
the pictures and ask them to repeat.
Step 3. 2b Play the tape and get students to finish 2b.
Step 4. 2c Look at the pictures in 2a. Ask and answer in pairs.
A: Where’s the supermarket?
B: It’s next to the library.

Step 5. Grammar Get students to ask and answer in pairs.
Step 6. Homework Recite the grammar
