说明路线就是回答他人的问路，是初中英语中十分常见的应用文写作内容之一。通常要求作者根据一幅路线图写一则短文，清楚地告诉他人怎样找到要去的地方。写路线说明类的书面表达时，需注意以下几点：
1. 首先，要读懂写作要求，明确路线的起点和终点。
2. 然后，认真观察和分析路线图，根据图中的标志符号，把要经过的路段弄清楚，最后再用准确的语言表达出来，写成短文。
3. 说明路线不等同于面对面的问与答，因此，尽量少用或不用直接引语。
4.短文的时态多用一般现在时或一般将来时。
5. 句型上多用祈使句。
